FAQs

WHO IS INVITED?

The conference will feature speakers, roundtables, panels and great food and fellowship. We will be offering tools for various parts of the journey and an opportunity to spend time with those in our camp who we might not otherwise have the chance to meet.  (You can check out our dynamic line up via the link here).

WHAT DEFINES A ‘SPECIAL NEEDS’ DAD?

First of all, you don’t have to be a ‘Dad’. This conference is for any man who supports, loves or mentors an individual with special needs. Also, the term ‘special needs’ can be broad ranging and we accept all of those. It could be a developmentally delayed child, a child with a physical deformity or a child struggling with depression. It could be a child with Autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy or a chromosomal disorder. The bottom line is if your child is facing issues beyond the norm which is affecting your work as a father, husband and man, then this is for you. There is no requirement or ‘minimum.’ You are welcome.

WHERE?

Fayetteville Christian Church is a church located in Fayetteville, Ga. roughly 20 minutes south of the Atlanta airport. It is easily accessible via I-85 and I-75. The church – address and link to google maps here – is offering us a fellowship hall and use of their kitchen for the event for which we are very grateful.

WHEN?

Okay, it’s the weekend between the AFC and NFC playoffs and the Saturday before The Super Bowl – yeah, we told you this conference was for men, by men. The event takes place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. But don’t worry if you are afraid of being bored. Our mission is to make this not only informative, but also a time for fellowship, food and fun. We will have lunch. We will have amazing coffee locally roasted by Ignite. We will have games and raffles. Yes, this is a time to bond, but you won’t be bound to sit in and barred from restroom breaks and no one will give you a second look if you go back for second helpings or talk trash about how good your team is.

HOW?

The genesis of the conference began in September and by grace and good fortune, we have been able to secure a host site and coffee for the event. Ignite and Fayetteville Christian Church have played a huge role.

DO I HAVE TO BE A CHRISTIAN TO ATTEND?

No. The church was kind enough to offer space and while there will be some spiritual themes at the conference, you do not have to meet a spiritual or theological check list to be admitted. Bring your doubts, your beliefs and your questions with you. All are welcome.

DOES IT COST?

No, we are working with donors and sponsors to make this event free and accessible to all. We just ask that you RSVP so we can prepare for food and drinks for the event.

IS THIS A NON PROFIT EVENT/ORGANIZATION?

No, or rather, not yet. The genesis for this event began in early fall 2019 and there has not been enough time or resources to process the paperwork for a 501C3 status. However, we are doing everything we can to make this event affordable and are in the process working with a legal expert working through an established 501C3. Technically, we are not an official 501C3, but this is not a money-making venture, but a service/ministry. A list of individuals involved with the organization is at the bottom of the page.
